Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), is the legally constituted international body established to accredit medical programs in the Caribbean. The standards used by the CAAM-HP are based on the United States medical school accreditation program as outlined by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, USA (LCME) and are recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education, WHO (WMFE) as comparable to US accredited schools. As such, it is concurrently recognized as a viable academic pathway to an MD degree in the United States.
From 2023, Students Graduating from a Non Accredited Med School in the Caribbean may not be entitled to continue his career in USA.
CAAM-HP accredited schools in St. Vincent have been recognized by the US Department of Education as accredited at a standard comparable to United States medical schools, as so governed by the LCME. Not only is Trinity School of Medicine one of those schools, it is the only CAAM-HP accredited school in the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Few Words on the Key Members of Trinity SOM

  • Dr W Douglas Skelton, MD serves as the Chancellor of Trinity SOM. Dr Skelton, Following graduation from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and a psychiatric residency at Columbia in New York, Dr. Skelton returned to Emory where he was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry.
    • During his Emory years he served as Chief of Psychiatry at Grady Hospital and then as Medical Director of the Georgia Mental Health Institute. From 1974 to 1980 he served Georgia as Director of Mental Health under Governor Jimmy Carter and as Commissioner of Health and Human Services for Governor George Busbee. He then returned to Emory as Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. He later assumed additional duties at Emory as Vice President for Government Relations of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center. He served as a member of the National Advisory Mental Health Council during the Carter Administration.
  • Skelton served as Dean of the Mercer University School of Medicine from 1985 to 2002 and as Senior Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs from 2002 to 2004.
  • Mr Steven R Wilson, President and CEO of Trinity SOM has many years of experience leading businesses through the early stages of development and into maturity. He has served as President and CEO of several highly regarded institutions since 1980s.
