B.Tech. Admissions – 2018-2019

The most highly sought after B.Tech degrees from VIT are achieved by successfully getting through the VITEEE examination conducted every year. The students based on their merit are given a range of options to pursue their under graduation degree. The Institution currently offers 36 undergraduate programmes inclusive of B.Arch degree (5 years) programme for students willing to pursue Architecture. The admission into the B.Arch degree is procured through a successful NATA score. Many research centres are also part of the schools, which promote inter-departmental collaboration and provide a platform for students to delve into new research projects.

Application Status & Admission | Due to JEE (Main) Paper & Pencil Test scheduled on 08.04.2018, VIT has planned to schedule, the VITEEE-2018 to be conducted from 04.04.2018 to 15.04.2018, without clashing with JEE(Main) as follows:

VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted from 04.04.2018 to 15.04.2018
The exam will be conducted as three session per day
The duration of the Entrance Examination will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes

SELECTION OF VITEEE QUESTION PAPER

Candidates are requested to give utmost attention during VITEEE Question paper selection (PCME / PCBE)
PCME – Candidates appearing in PCME (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/English) is eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree programmes, as per the VITEEE ranking
PCBE – Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bio-engineering and B.Tech.Biotechnology programmes. They are also eligible for B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Spec. in Bioinformatics) and Electronics and Communication with spl. in Biomedical Engineering but after joining, registering Mathematics as bridge course is mandatory.

Admission Procedure

VITEEE-2018 is a Common Entrance Exam and Eligible candidates can select the courses offered at VIT Vellore Campus, Chennai Campus, VIT-Bhopal and VIT-AP on the day of Counselling as per the order of merit and availability.

The admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2018, conducted by VIT
Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE are not eligible for admission
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their entrance examination rank and will be called for the counselling
VITEEE for B.Tech. programme is common for VIT-Vellore, VIT-Chennai, VIT-Bhopal and VIT-AP
Candidates can select the campus of their choice at the time of counselling based on the ranking

VIT University | Vellore Institute Of Technology

formerly called Vellore Engineering College, is an Indian institute of higher education and a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Founded in 1984, as Vellore Engineering College, by G. Viswanathan, the institution offers 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, four integrated and four research programs.

The college was affiliated with Madras University. In 1999 Vellore Engineering College was awarded the ISO 9002 certificate for three years by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) of the Netherlands, making VEC the first educational institute in India to achieve this recognition. In June 2001 the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development conferred VEC as a ‘deemed university’ and the college became VIT University.

Program Overview

The programmes under Computer Science and Engineering aim at a unique blend of hardware and software, allowing students to gain knowledge about the concepts that enable many of today’s fundamental technologies, including Wireless Communication and the Internet of Things. In the subsequent years of the programme, the students are engaged in more complex real world issues which require strong problem-solving skills, logical reasoning and an innovative outlook. The programme aims at producing qualified individuals who explore avenues as engineering professionals, innovators or entrepreneurs engaged in technology development, engineering system implementation and other related areas.
The programmes under Electronics and Communication Engineering provide a strong knowledge base covering areas such as Applied Electromagnetics, Digital system design with FPGAs, Embedded System Design, Analog Modulation techniques, Signals and Systems, Digital Communication, Optical Communication and Networks, Measurements and Transducers, Digital Image Processing, Real Time Data Acquisition Systems, Mobile communications and networks. The students in the programme have the opportunity to work in specially designed and well- equipped labs. With several modern techonolgies and facilities, in-house projects, and industry internships in the programme, they are enabled to explore career avenues as design engineers, automation engineers, quality testing and other related areas.
The programmes under Mechanical Engineering focus on in-depth study of thermal, design, manufacturing and automation courses at core curriculum level to design the systems relevant for industries. The programme consists of a relevant amalgamation of hands-on experience, capstone project, and industry internships which enable the students to responsibly design, implement and produce mechanical engineering systems.The aim is to channel the knowledge and experience gained in the programme towards making a significant contribution to the industry and society. Upon completion of the programme, employment opportunities in the automobile, manufacturing, instrumentation and mechanical engineering design oriented industries could be explored.

Eligibility

Candidates appearing for VITEEE in 2018 should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).
